lyrics
Akwerius - Dear Mr. Prezident
(intro)
Jim Brown:
Yes Jim Brown here
Reporting live from the streets of Toronto, Canada
We have a major, major situation here...
Demonstrators from Third World countries
have taken to the streets
to protest against the rampant corruption and nepotism
in their countries
We have been trying to interview some of the...
Yes sir, sir ..
Would you mind sharing with us your thoughts
and tell us what you would like to say to the leaders of the Third World
(verse one)
Knowledge Will Empower:
Dear Mr. Prezident,
Who is it exactly that you represent?
Your army, your cabinet, or your dying residents?
You said that if we vote for you,
you'd make the pain stop.
It's been 20 years,
we still in the same spot.
With no electricity
in the capital city,
yet you're spending money
on your self-publicity.
Selling our forests for a handful of dollars.
Trying to make us good workers in blue collars.
We run the mills.
We run the fields.
We build
this country for our children,
then you turn around and steal
like the white men did with colonialism.
Then you give speeches on pan-Africanism.
Oh, Mr Prezident,
you're such a liar.
The people gonna come
and set your house on fire,
'cause they are sick and tired
of sitting quiet
If things don't change
there's going to be some riots
Mr. Prezident.
(chorus)
Dear Mr Prezident (repeat x5)
(verse two)
Knowledge Will Empower:
Mr. Prezident
wants a big expensive residence
only wants to be addressed
as Your Eminence
doesn't like to eat food that's not refined
French cuisine, croissants, red steaks & wine
sign papers, and talk on the phone all day
shake the hand of everybody in the hallway
like a Superstar,
drive around in big fancy cars
one for him, three more for his bodyguards
and when he goes abroad
he's packing like a Hajj
Private jets and mansions,
you know,
Living large
then when he gets home
they block out the street
Line-up people on the sidewalk just to greet him
Police barricades, strip-searching you quick
If you don't cooperate, you face-down on the concrete
While Mr.President passes
Waving at the masses
You hear cheers
Loud camera flashes,
then a gun shot....
Watch Mr. Prezident drop
Put the glock down
Disappear before the cops come
For Mr.Prezident, the cops run
But Mr.Prezident will get quite done
Like a job,
when I come through with the squad
twist his bodyguards and send Mr.Prezident to God
It ain't hard
I speak the truth, it ain't odd
I come with the microphone to uncover the fraud
Mr. Prezident
(chorus)
Dear Mr.Prezident (repeat x5)
(outro)
Jim Brown:
well, Ladies and Gentlemen,
there you have it
I think the message is clear
The people of the Third World
are tired of being marginalized
We see representatives from virtually
every so-called developing country
here tonight, they are holding hands
and forming a human chain that
stretches as far as the human eye can see
ladies and gentlemen, there are signs out here
beautiful signs, a myriad of signs, with languages
from virtually every place on the Earth.
Flags from every imaginable nation, from Cameroon
to Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Zimbabwe
Ladies and gentlemen there are simply too many of them
for me to name them all. Ohh...
It is a magnificent magnificent sight we have here tonight
The people of the Third World are coming together to fight back
the oppressive system that is holding them down.
